Service with a smile

The SPS has been taking very good care of me. Treats every evening, brushing, and pest control. This weekend we headed to the arena for a ride. I took her trotting, loping, and even showed her a few dressage moves. To show her how much I appreciated all of her attention and kind treatment I even, finally, side passed over to the arena fence and allowed her to get a drink. She was very pleased to have me cooperate in her efforts. I even walked through the sprinklers on the way to and from the arena-I hate sprinklers.
He of the spotty butt has been busy rolling his pink ball into my pasture. I don't want that silly thing in there so I send it right back. I sure hope he doesn't think I have stooped to "playing" with him.

Ponying

He of the spotty butt is still rehabbing. He needs to get exercise to build up his strength, he thinks he needs to conserve his energy at all costs. That is where I come in. The SPS asked me if I would pony He of the spotty butt so he would have to work a bit. Being the benevolent royal that I am I agreed, after all I want what is best for my subjects. Plus I thought it would be fun to make the little arrogant horse have to work up a sweat, I could get even for all of the times he throws his empty treat tub in my pasture. I think I did a good job, I know the SPS was happy with me.

Mud puddles and cow pies

The SPS hates cow poop, she says it is stinky and messy-I agree with her 100%. The other thing she hates is that even when it looks dried it isn't. Nope you step on it and underneath that dried crust is a gooey layer that promptly clings to your footwear never to come off. So her solution is to avoid stepping on any cow poop. Seems to me this is a reasonable solution and it is one I use when it comes to mud.

Now the SPS understands why I don't want to step in a mud puddle, she knows I have no way of knowing how deep that puddle is. But she gets all irritated with me when I won't step on dried mud. I sit and spin, taking off in the opposite direction of the mud-trying to make it very clear to the SPS that stepping on dried mud is a bad idea. You think with her experience with cow poop she would understand, humans can be so dense sometimes. Yes, on the surface the puddle seems to be dried and safe to step on...but underneath lurks this goo that is ready to suck a horse's hoof right in up to its knees trapping it forever. The SPS can kick me, spank me, growl at me all she wants I am not stepping on it anymore than she would purposely go out and walk around the pasture stepping on cow poop. I think I finally taught the SPS this lesson, now she just politely asks me to go around the dried mud and I oblige her willingly. I just wish she isn't so hard to teach, sometimes it takes days to get something through to her. Oh well at least she is trainable.

Another happy kid

The SPS's niece came to visit and wanted to ride a horse. She hasn't ridden in 5 years. It was my honor to take her for a ride. I was very happy to see her pump her hand in joy. I love making my human subjects happy, it also earns me green apple biscuits.
