Rider's prayer

A Rider's Prayer
Dearest Creator in Heaven,
Give me strength to guide my horse.
Make my hands soft and my head clear.
Let my horse understand me and I him.

My heart you have blessed with a special love of these animals.
Let me never lose sight of it.
My soul you have gifted with a deep need for them.
Let that need never lessen.

Always let my breath catch as the sun gleams on an elegant head.
Always may my throat tighten at the sound of a gentle nicker.
Let the scent of fresh hay and a new bag of grain be sweet to me.
Let the touch of a warm nose on my hand always bring a smile.

I adore the joy of a warm day on the farm.
The grace and splendor of a running horse,
The thunder of its hooves makes my eyes burn and my heart soar.
Let it always be so.

Dearest Creator grant me patience,
For horses are harnessed wind, and wind can be flighty.
Let me not frighten or harm them.
Instead show me ways to understand them.

Above all, dear Creator, fill my life with them.
When I pass from this world,
Send my soul to no heaven without them.
For this love you have given me graces my existence
And I shall cherish it and praise You for it for all time.

Royal robes

The cold weather has assaulted us with a fierceness. The SPS made sure all of the horses in her care were blanketed today because the weatherman said to expect freezing rain. Freezing rain hanging off of my royal self will never do.

In the movies

Here is Coelho and I performing in the same class together. We both were very good boys. This was Coelho's first show and I had to guide him through the process.

Royalty reigns

This photo features one of the many riders I carried on Saturday.
I was a guest riding horse at the CWU Equestrian competition this past Saturday. I carried riders from two states and Canada as they tried to win ribbons. I carried a variety of riders, from a rider who was a beginner in her very first competition to a rider who had been to nationals. I adjusted what I did to the skills of each rider and did exactly what they requested. Sometimes I knew they weren't asking for the right thing, but it was my royal duty to obey them. One rider was supposed to have me canter, but she kept clucking for a trot, so trot I did....I hope she learned something about cuing from our ride. All of my riders placed and I was honored to carry them. The SPS would cheer for me and was so proud.
I had a grand time and really enjoyed my handler that was assigned to me for the day. I got lots of attention and loves. The riders who drew me were pleased when they found out. I have been invited to return in February for the hunter competition, I plan on being there.

I will be strutting my stuff in Ellensburg competing in the CWU Competition event this Saturday. I am going to be one of the horses ridden by the competitors. Who ever gets me will sure be lucky! I will take good care of them and do my royal best to make sure they place well at the show. I also plan on having fun showing off.
If you are in Ellensburg on Saturday, swing by Bloom Pavillion and gaze upon my royal performance.
